WHAT IS EPOXY?

If you research epoxy, you’ll find multiple definitions from a variety of sources. Epoxy is widely used by many different industries.  These said definitions vary based on which application method is used.

Epoxy consist of polymer materials that begin as liquid and are chemically changed into a solid. An epoxy coating is chemically distinct from regular floor paints.  A resinous flooring consists of a two-part system. One part is made of epoxy resin (the base), which is cross-linked with a hardener (curing agent).  When epoxy resin and hardener is properly measured and mixed, it reacts to one another creating a chemical bond with each compound along with the floor itself.  This chemical bond then creates a material that’s durable, resistant to degradation or wear including a solvent resistant finish, and bonds exceptionally well to its substrate. Epoxy coating are formulated based upon the performance requirements for the end product.

It’s important for businesses to offer their employees a safe work environment.  Unfortunately, accidents happen.  Ground FX carries industrial grade epoxies.  These coatings offer slip-resistance, heat-resistance, fire-resistance, and impact-resistance.  All of these factors mean less payout in terms of worker’s compensation claims.

Epoxy floors increase productivity.  With all the different decorative patterns and colors available, epoxy can be applied in a way the designates work zones from walking paths.  Keeping the workplace organized will better define certain areas.  The durability and smoothness of the floor also lessens the wear and tear on transport vehicles.

When applied correctly, epoxy adheres to the concrete making a boring concrete floor seamless and very strong.  This particular floor coating is resistant to impact, chemicals, heat, and fire. This eliminates damage and premature wear to the floor.  Because epoxy creates such durability, it provides a long-lasting floor.  This helps eliminate continuous repairs and costly, premature replacement.

Epoxy not only provides an attractive flooring surface with its high gloss shine, but is also very easy to maintain.  Epoxy coatings are much easier to clean than plain concrete.  This not only saves money…but most importantly…time!
